I have an electronic distributor that has a box attached to it (houses some electronics?) This box hits my intake manifold (Edelbrock performer 440) and prevents me from getting my timing set properly. Can I shift the plug wires counterclockwise one hole or do I have to notch the manifold? It's on a 440.

You can put the distributor in ANY position, as long as you move the intermediate shaft and plug wires accordingly.

What kind of distributor is that? Must be aftermarket as I never heard of notching the 440 intake for distributor clearance.
