I am planning to swap a A518 transmission in for the A904 in my 1972 Road Runner. I'm sticking with a small block and have a 9-1/4 rear end. Does anyone know the drive shaft length for this combination?

I'm considering just measuring the current drive shaft and subtracting the difference in lenghts between the A518 and A904 to get the lenght. I don't want to pull the car out of service to try to install the trans, measure and then wait 3 to 6 weeks while I wait for the driveshaft to get made.

I think your best off installing transmission getting the proper measurements. Most driveline shops have s pretty quick turnaround. I had front lengthened and rear 2 piece in my ram shorten. They had it done same week.
Please take som pics of your install and finished project.

Well I would rather wait for the correct length driveshaft that was built on measurements from my car than have to repair the damage resulting from using the wrong one.
