Scammers can be funny. I posted an antique sewing machine for sale on Craiglist and Facebook. The machine was made in 1889. The scammer contacted me and inquired if I was the original owner......

> I want to pick it up. are you the original owner and is it your final price? actually, I don't reply from cl mail. so, let me know at joshdrylie45@gmail.com

So that would make you 133 years old. You made it through the Harrison Administration, The Titanic and Hindenburg disasters, the Great Depression and the Great War. How were the Roaring Twenties, WWII, Korea and Viet Nam? You've been through a lot.

Tell this scammer yes regarding original owner and that you're the oldest person on the planet

Flag 1- no reference to the item for sale (or an obvious copy of the listing title or the use of the actual word "item").
Flag 2- obvious unfamiliarity with the text of the listing.
Flag 3- casual (or demanding) assumption that it's OK for you to contact them outside of the protected CL email service.

Youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu're OUT.

Maybe you were born on a Tuesday, but it wasn't last Tuesday lol.

Aren't the hand painted (decorated) units typically some kind of special edition?

I get the same stuff. Is the item still available? How generic is that? How stupid do they think we are?

When I'm selling items online and get asked for a better price my reply is,
Due to the number of offers received in excess to my asking price I will be selling to the highest bidder within the next 48 hours.

Is that a Singer brand? My mother had a similar model she used for many years.

You have certainly taken great care of that machine over the last 130+ years. LOL

Yeah, my machine was made in 1889. I think the "Gay Nineties" were pretty cool in the 1800s. But, I'm not a fan of the crap going on in the last "Gay Nineties", and up to current times.... :gay:

Yes, a Singer "Fiddlebase". Lady that bought it has a collection, and spent an hour educating me on old sewing machines. I guess sewing machine collectors are as passionate about their toys as MOPAR guys! LOL

He only wants you to reply to his email so he can sell your email. They post thousands of for sale ads with their gmail acct to contact them, all they do is sell your email addy
