I can't find the old Mopar Muscle Magazine article where they put an E body rearend in a 71 Charger as a way to narrow the rear... Has anybody done this? If so could you post pics?

So you're getting about 5/8 per side and you have to remove and reweld the perches.
Is that worth it?

Do you really need more room in a 71-74 B???
I have 235 60 15 and they look way too small.
Had 295 50 15, and they only barely filled out the wells.

BTW There's a better chart somewhere. This one's wrong regarding 62-70 Bs (they're different).

I have an E body 8 3/4 that I'll be using in one of my 3rd gen Chargers.
Not for extra room, but because it was $100 with the pig, and I haven't found a 3rd gen B axle in 5 years that cheap.

I agree with YY1. 5/8 of an inch is probably not worth the hassle. If you are putting down more power than 295's can handle, you probably should be considering a minitub--I would think.

Thanks guys. I am going to go with a Strange 60 rearend so I can worry about the perches later, been considering the minitub route as well. ..But there is so much room there already and I would hate to cut if I can get around it. Looks like a leaf spring re-locator kit would provide more clearance as well.

Yeah, that chart is way off! I know my 69 Charger 8 3/4 is wider that 55 inches flange to flange!!!
