I am having cooling issues and decided to try replacing the 22" stock radiator that I believe is clogged. I bought a 26" ECP radiator a few months ago to upgrade when I get my new engine built, but with the current overheating, I'm going to try to stab it in there now.

Problem- the 26" radiator bottom tank is hitting the pannel below the lower radiator support. You can see the scuff on the tape in the picture. The radiator needs to drop another 1/2"- 3/4" for the mounting holes to line up. I didn't think the 26" cars had a different lower pannel from the 22" cars (I do know the RH mounting pannel is different). Do I need to hammer clearance in or cut that? I'm wondering if that's a common fitment issue for 22" to 26" conversions?

My car was far from number matching/pure stock. So I just trimmed mine to fit.

It's the radiator, not the car. You have a " It's supposed to fit radiator ". Send it back.

I have a ECP 26 and wish I had bought a Cold Case instead. Anyhow this is the trimming I had to do to get it to fit. No modifications to the car.

I woulda taken my 22 and had a shop turn it into a 3 row personally. Did it to my 70 after we redid the motor in 86

On mine i used the normal bottom slots and drilled new holes lower on the mounting flange to move the radiator up X amount.. took like 3 minutes.. Great radiators other than that little thing.
