How do they sell this junk, one small backfire on start and half the foam is in my carb and engine. Remind me to use a metal lid air cleaner on any holley carb, had gotten too used to injection.

Wouldn't recommend one for anything other than bolting it on as a show piece only. It looks good, and you can get to the float level adjusters without removing the filter which is good, pity the foam filter is totally useless.

Anyone have any experience with the washable filter lid top air cleaners? or will they catch on fire also with one backfire?

I had one on a charger with a thermoquad and it sucked the foam out of the middle of it threw it awayand put a regular chrome air cleaner on it .

The pro-flo is a fireball death trap, almost lost my car to one (vaporlocked, and while trying to get it back started it backfired and the filter went up in flames)... a buddy of mine just bought a '71 Dart (318 w/ 8 3/4, 64,*** original miles) that had one on it, I was giving the car the once over and the first thing I told him was "get rid of that damn air filter before you take that thing down the road, you'll thank me later"

I agree, those things are junk! Got one hanging up on the wall in my garage and that's where it will stay. As for the filter top lid, it would probably be a good idea not to use it if you have hood insulation

Does anybody know where to buy a chrome hard top air cleaner that my original pie tin will fit in. I saw in a picture some one had a chrome air cleaner with a stock pie tin on it.Summit has some that look like they will work but if some one knows where to get one I dont want to get 1 from summit and have it not work.
