engine block stamp

Anyone know the location of the engine block stamp on a 69 383. And should these numbers match up with the vin.

engine block stamp on a 383 is below the dist on a angled part of the block , would have a letter for the year and then 383 stamp, the vin no. is stamped on the side of the block on a flat portion just above the oil pan rail pass side I think, 69 should be the whole vin no.

does something on the engine have to be removed. Not seeing any numbers

"early" 69 should have the full vin (i.e. RM23H9G123456). "Late" 69 will not. (i.e. 9G123456)
Yes; last six of the number stamped on the block should mtch VIN on dash.

This was on stamped on both sides of block. 2468103-12. Upper right hand corner 1969.

THe 2468103 casting number specifies that its a 383 motor.
