I'm looking to buy a new engine harness but I'm not entirely sure what I should buy but I need to do it quick before Year one's New Year's special ends. I have a '69 RR currently with an upgraded mopar electronic ignition system in it but it's old. The Chrysler electronic distributor needs replaced that I have, it has a 4 pin ballast resistor, Standard brand volt regulator, and a Chrysler 5 pin ECU (I can't read some of the part number but what I can read... 874020), and the alternator is p/n 4091424 I'm guessing a 70's or later one. So my question is what should I upgrade to? Should I just go with the Chrysler Elec ignition or would something like MSD or Mallory work better for me. My engine is a 383 .030" over with a hot cam, stealth heads, roller rockers, headers, intake, etc. Also what harness should I get from Year one, the standard points harness or the one that is already modded? I ask because yearone states that if you are going with an aftermarket elec ignition (ie MSD or equiv) you'd be better off started with the points harness. Thanks for any of the help.

I checked their site but they are not the ones that supply to Yearone. I used to know who they were but I can't remember. Ron Francis is a little too much for me. Thanks any how though.

Been using the mopar electronic ignition and have had no problems. Mine is a street car with a little track time.

If you go with MSD you can retain your original harness and use the Chrysler electronic distributor to trigger the MSD directly - if it has the option for the electronic pickup. Just use the coil and ballast the MSD recommends.

The dual field alternator with the flat regulator is the better setup so you may want to keep that. Not sure if the 70 harness is 100% interchangeable with the 69. I think MoPar Action did a tech article about the charging system change over.
