I have a Chrysler power steering pump on my 68 Charger and need to rebuild the main housing gasket and front seal. Anyone know if the "Chrysler" power steering pump encompasses both the TRW and Federal pump types as far as seals go? The TRW has the different back housing but looks the same otherwise as far as O-ring size goes. Anyone know where to get a kit for the TRW pumps?

Yea I can order parts, I mainly need to know if the TRW and the Federal share similar O-ring sizes and front shaft seals. I found a kit from NAPA for a Thompson pump which I believe is what the TRW is.

My suspicion is yes, but I'm not sure. I rebuilt mine recently and called up Steer and Gear for a kit. They asked what type of unit I had and I told them I thought Federal. They asked me about the pulley hub and said yeah - that's a Federal. But when I removed it I found out it's a TRW - or at least has a TRW can on it. However, I found the front seal was dry after pulling the pulley and ended up not replacing it - thus my qualification. But Steer and Gear can surely tell you.

Yes and I see they offer a small TRW and large TRW as well. I believe mine being the 68 is a small, as the shaft is solid on the end. I am going to do the canister seal and the back O-ring seal and put it back together. The front seal is dry so I will leave that alone, as Carlisle is in two weeks and I am not opening up a can of worms before the show and disabling the car.
