Looking for some basic information. I know the firecore distributor has a fully adjustable mechanical advance model but for the stock 440 distributor replacement for use with the orange box, what is the advance curve set at out of the box. I have heard that its set at 22-24 degrees of advance out of the box but i would like to confirm this before I buy one. If it is set between 22-24 is would work perfect with my set up and base timing of 12 degrees to get me the 34-36 total I am looking for.

Thanks for any information in advance.

Don't worry about the advance being set different from factory. The firecore distributor I bought from Mancini comes with the plastic adjustment tabs to set it to whatever you'd like to as far as mechanical advance. I can't remember what it was set at stock, but setting the curve to what you need is shown in the instructions if you are unsure and is pretty easy to do.

I have the instructions from my Firecore. I’ll shoot you a pic later.

The Firecore is really easy to change. It won’t matter what it is set versus what you want, it is easy to do.

One note...the Firecore is a little bit taller than the stock Mopar, keep that in mind to avoid any issues.

pictures of the instructions would be great. Being a taller should not be an issue as I am using Tayler wires and they are longer than stock. Right now have a distributor from advance auto parts, the curve is too high and the cost to re curve it is not worth it if the firecore is as good as people say.

Thanks for the help.

BTW (sorry if you already know this..) adjusting the plate as shown controls the total amount of mechanical advance available. The 'curve' or timing of when/how that advance activates is controlled by the small springs. They can be setup in different combinations to give you the curve that works best for you.
