Success!!!!!!
Ok, it helps when I actually replace the right flasher... lol.
To trouble shoot (in case anyone has the same issue), I swapped the wires in the connector (after practicing on an old one I had in the garage) and tested. Last night I was getting some life out of the turn signals so I figured I had the right flasher...DOH!!!. After swapping the leads the blinkers were still dead. So for the hell of it I put the hazards on...everything lit up!!! After calling myself a few choice words I grabbed my flasher meant for the 69, messed around under the dash to find the blinker (both are on the passenger side maybe a foot from each other, hazard is closer to the door). Swapped the wires in that connector, connected both grounds to existing holes under the dash (no new holes) and fired it up. Everything worked like a champ!
If you are going to do these plasma updates (and I do recommend them, my alternator gauge no longer dives at stop lights or with blinkers on). This is what I did:
Tools-small socket set, Phillips head screw driver, set of pliers, small flat jewelers screw driver (providing you don’t have issues getting the screws out, one was stripped and couldn’t get at it with an easy out so I drilled the head off to get at the bezel off on one of them)
Items I purchased (at least for a 67 Charger). 6 red 1157 plasma leds, 2 yellow 1157 plasma leds. ( and 2 white 1156 plasma leds for the reverse lights that aren’t installed. Trying to figure out how to get those off... bolts up inside the bumper?.. really?.). And 2 low load flasher relays.
1. Replace the tail lights with the red and then test to make sure they all work. If they work, good to go. Test the blinkers at this point. Mine worked fine so if all you do is replace the rears, you are good to go.
2. Replace the front blinkers. Test each blinker and running lights. The lights should come on at this point but would be solid. Hazards are dead, at least for me.
3. Locate both flashers, pull one and install the low load in one position (remember, check for blinker vs hazard). Touch the ground and test. If the blinker does not start clicking, remove the flasher, use the jewelers flat head screw driver and pop the wires out of the flasher connector, swap positions and plug the flasher back in. Test again, at this point you should hear the flasher work. Connect the ground properly and have someone watch the flashers from the outside while you go though each sequence. Button everything up under the dash
4. Repeat step 3 for the other flasher and test. If you swapped wires in the first connector, you will probably have to do it in the second as well.
5. Test everything now (hazards, blinkers etc). The job is done!
Now to figure out how to replace the reverse lights...
