My '64 has been going through a complete rotisserie rebuild for the last year and a half. Its a slow process since I'm doing all the work myself. Anyway last Friday it was time to breath some fire into the 440.
Its pretty much a stock rebuild with just a few mods. 9:1 CR, M-1 dual plane intake, large Carter 750 AVS, Hughes Whiplash cam with associated springs and lifters, and a stock Mopar electronic ignition system. Exhaust is stock '64 426 Street Wedge manifolds, 2 1/2" pipes with a crossover into Cherry Bomb turbo mufflers.
Initial start went very well and cam break-in went without a hitch. After cool down I did some preliminary tuning of the carb and timing and its running pretty well. I still need to change the springs in the distributor and fiddle with the jets and rods on the carb some, but for now I'm pretty happy with it. 80 lbs oil pressure and idles around 190* but considering it was in my garage on a 100* day 190* isn't too bad at all (Champion 2 row 1" tubes, 18" fan and a home made shroud).
Unfortunately it will be going on the back burner for about a month while I build the wife a new entertainment center, but after that's done I'll be starting on body work, painting and interior.
