My Mopar buddy (who also owns a 67 Charger) and I were discussing why the 67 Charger didn't get a flip cap like the 67 GTX. Anyone know or care to add their theories as to why or why not?

Dodge and Plymouth were fairly autonomous for things like that.
Flip tops were Plymouth only in 67 (GTX and Barracuda).
Plymouth seems to have always been a bit more "gadget-y" early on in this period with things like chrome tips. hood ornaments, sail panel emblems, and other stuff that wasn't on comparable Dodge cars- at least until the slapstick/machine gun tip era.
Also the Charger used the Coronet "hidden" filler door that was the same in 66.
I'm sure when Dodge said "hey, we want that cool "Nascar" gas cap", corporate said "wait until the restyle in 68".
You could also argue that the GTX could have had hidden headlights.....

The charger got such a cool grill and tail lights I dont think the general public could have handled anymore coolness....then again Im biased.
