Found better chrome trim for headrest restoration.

Im restoring my 69 GTX and latest effort is the headrests. Im restoring my original headrests and needed to replace the chrome trim that goes around the vinyl channel. The old must be ground out as it is basically welded into the vinyl. After grinding it all out, I was not happy with the chrome trim being offered by Year One and Classic. Both are narrower than the factory trim and they did not fill the channel left after removing the old trim. Took some measurements and began looking for an alternative. Found this on Amazon. I really like the fit and finish far better than the re-pop trim being offered out there. What do you think?

How will the adhesive hold up over time? I've not had good success with Made in China adhesive anything. It does look very nice, though.

Adhesive is labeled as 3M and appears to be same quality as my on hand rolls of 3M tape in shop.

I bought a roll of the Cowles brand 1/4" trim that various forum poster's recommended, which is probably the same stuff all of the vendors sell at a huge markup. Cowles doesn't have the trim available in 5/16", and yes, the 1/4" trim is a little too narrow.

I'll order some of that 5/16" trim to see how it fits in the headrests I had restored years ago and never used. The chrome bands on those headrests were flaking off just sitting in the box!

I used a dremel tool and pretty much ground it out. You really have to take your time and be careful. Very east to grind into the vinyl cover and go right through it.

There's also a place in St. Louis that does headrest repair. Not Just Headrests. He did mine for the '69 Road Runner.
