I live here in S.E. Mi and did call the young man regarding the 62. Its really in bad shape and is a car only for the professionals. Not trying to knock on the car, but its no where near whats hes asking.
Someone I do know verified all of the information and did meet with him. I called him and asked him whats the status. He stated that, yeah its there but no engine but has one that's not correct, no intake, no exhaust,no carbs and many other very important and mind you, expensive parts necessary to bring the car back. Unless you are prepared to spent around $50k+ plus the cost of the car, for get it. Even if you did workout a deal with him and worked that hard restoring this car that wont be a numbers matching car like the one that he lists at Mecums. You would be very hard pressed to even recoup your invested money let alone your time.
Hey, again not putting him or his car down. I'm not that crazy either. The only persons getting big money for these cars are the ones who are in the business for many years and are well known in doing very high end restorations documenting every step of the way. I should also add that those types of shops have deep pockets to buy only the best equipment and a facility to accomplish these types of restorations.
It would take 1500 hours at a cost of around $40.00 to $60.00 per hour and would be charged out as time and materials. I my best guess, you would be around $60 to $90K for the build. Then, the next question I would really ask myself is, could I get a (ROI) return on investment after....
Good luck on the sale....
