I have a 73 dodge charger that have a bad fuel gauge problem. I have replaced the sending unit twice hoping that I just got a bed sending unit but it goes deeper than that, the gauge goes all over the place full, empty, than half full the hold time I'm driving it,the unit is grounded so that is not my problem, I bought the small voltage reducer that cuts the voltage from 12 volts to 5 when running,I have 12 volts going to the sending unit with the switch on but not running, should it go to 5 once I start the car or be at 5 volts even doe the car is not running? I have been fighting this problem for years I want to fix it myself but may have to send gauges to someone to repair it.Do anyone have any ideal what may be the problem, or do anyone know anyone that repair gauges that you can trust and do a good job.
