Fuel pressure gauge

I am tring to nail down my idle problem. Does anyone with a mechanical fuel pump have a gauge on there fuel rail. Mine seems to bounce around between 5 and 7 and will not stay at a constant point.
Is this normal..it is a shitty gauge I have on it though.
Check for vacuum leaks with propane, and didn't hear any change which leads me to the pump, the idle fluctates, it drops about 200 rpm then back up again. Any other stuff I should look for....73 340 Charger 727.

I've have those bounce at idle with a mechanical pump. pretty sure its normal.

Thanks Jackson..I have had a few on other cars..just never bothered to look at them LOL.
I figure as long as I am getting at least 5 pounds it should be ok...guess it is time to buy some plugs *g*
