gas tank cleaning

need some ideas for cleaning out my tank before installing he new parts

take it to a radiator shop that hot tanks them.some even reseal the inside.its worth the money if you cant get a new one.

I had the same intentions with my 67, clean the tank and on down the road she goes, little did I know how much crap was in the tank.

I found out when I pulled it to clean it... I didn't even contemplate it, just bought a new one.




I didn't want to be going down the road and a sputter happen and wonder... hmmmm, wonder if a chunk of rust just went down the tube?? hehe.

Hopefully yours is cleaner than mine!

As cheap as new tanks are I just ended up replacing mine in the '63.

I'd had a previous one done for my 'Cuda at a radiator shop and while it came out fine the outside still needed restored.

I'm only worried about the inside and I'm hoping it doesn't look like the pictures. I do have a 2nd one I saved from the parts car and maybe I can get lucky on one of them or I too will be getting a new one

Yep, those giant chunks of rust came from the inside... a whole handful of the pictured chunks came from inside...

New tank is 145 on ebay, money well spent!!

I need to do the same to my tank 65'.. It's in pretty nice shape, just been sitting a while (Gas is now Kerosene). So I'm going to give this a shoot before forking out bucks for a new tank..
