Can anyone verify the original factory part number for the gas tank for a 1970 RoadRunner RM23? Thanks

Number: 2880434

There were two gas tanks. If you had a California spec car it came with a Evaporation Control System (ECS). These cars had a different gas tank. To identify a CA car, look for a vapor liquid separator tube in the trunk.

I don't the P/N for the CA tank though...

Here's a picture of the tube - not great, but hopefully you get the idea. 20111123_1009.jpg

My 70 RR has that same set up, that is another thing about our cars that is the same, almost twins. Yes the tank is a different part number for the N95 i will check and let you know what it is as soon as i get a chance. when i bought my car it had a repop in it. I found a nice original correct N95 tank, cleaned it and buffed it out. That is what is on my car now and looks damn good. Be aware the remakes do not have the internal vapor chamber all they do is curl a line around inside the tank LOL

My car still has the original tank and seems to run OK pulling gas out of it. I haven't seen too much grit coming out of it into filters but I really have not inspected it closely either. Thanks for the heads up about the reproductions! This will make me more careful to try and save my original tank.

The part number for the tank you need w/ECS what your car has is 3404392 and the number for the 70 tank with/out ECS would be 3404491
