I am in the process of installing various gauges on my 65 Coronet and need some help. The Volt gauge instructions say to run a wire to a good engine ground, the pressure gauges and temp gauges say a good engine ground close to the sender. My question is can I run a heavy gauge ground wire from the engine block to under my dash and connect the all the different gauges at the point under the dash? Any other advice would be appreciated, also I have a number of wiring books but apparently I'm to stupid to figure it out (I tend to way overthink things). Thanks Al

Ground is ground so it should work just make sure the block area is clean of paint and oils where ever u want to use, and u should be able to run the gauges from the same source? Unless I'm missing something.

You should have a ground strap that runs from the engine to the firewall. That would make the firewall a good ground. Now get those gauges installed.

As Eric said, go to NAPA and get a ground strap (braided copper with an eye at each end) and bolt to the engine (head, intake/exhaust manifold) and then to the firewall. Use a toothed lock washer on each end to insure good contact. At that point the dashboard frame will be grounded as well, so you can ground your gauges to it. Double check your ground points with a multi-meter set on ohms.
