You choose a gear oil by area and use....
Like if you are towing or constantly carrying around some heavy weight you want a 80/140, pick ups, same, however now move to canada where it's mostly cold, you might want a 60 wt oil, move a little lower like ny where you have a little of everything you want a 80/90. .

90w from the factory back in the day regardless of where they were shipped. Don't forget the addative if you have Sure Grip.
