Gone in 60 Seconds

The re-make of the movie "Gone in 60 Seconds" is no where near as good as the original IMO. If you've never seen the original movie, WATCH IT, it's awesome. McQ is OK too, but just because John Wayne is in it, along with some cool cars.

I thought the original G6S was so chopped up it was almost unwatchable.

McQ also ha the Mac 10, worth the price of admission.

the 1st was a wreck fest stuntman's dream, 40 min chase scene

the remake with Nick Cage had more of a plot
& actual actors, actual script etc. decent chase scene
far better-looking hero car too
(Foose designed 67 Eleanore vs a 71)

the 1st is a cult classic, many car guys love it
it's not a great movie, it's a wreck fest disguised as a movie

the remake is the one most people know & refer to
I think it actually won some awards, not that that means hit to me

Budnicks, Thanks for posting this. The re-make was OK, well known actors, plot, etc. etc. but the original was just plain cool. Very realistic chase scenes & crashes. The cars that were wrecked, were just cars then. I am not a Mustang guy, but that car took a lot of abuse. Vanishing Point & this movie are my two favorite car chase movies.

I saw the original in the theater when it came out in 1974. We lived in Omaha then. We moved to WI in '78 and no one here had even heard of it until the remake came out. The first one was ground breaking because nothing like that had been seen before - a movie that was essentially all car chases and destruction. Pretty fun move for an 11 year old.

I cringe nowadays watching the original Gi60S. The '66 Coronet, '68 Chrysler New Yorker, and the '72 Satellite Sebring coupe that all get obliterated in the chase, makes me a little sad...but they were just used cars then.
