got a trans question

i have a 67 coronet 2dr and i have this 4spd that came out of an 80s 2wd truck, its a side mount shifter in the b body location. now i wanna know why this will not fit in my car?

Because its an over drive trans Shift linkage is upside down and on the pickup the shifter mounting plate moves the shifter up higher than a b body.

so if i change the shifter itll fit right? cause i was gonna change it anyway
