I remember my grandmother telling me about pranks she would play on my grandad every April 1st, now they were very simple people,dirt farmers in Central Tx but salt of the earth types.
Mamaw as we called her, always had a somewhat serious demeanor about her and would smirk at a joke except this one and would laugh about it at every get together, she was always very proud to get this over on Grandad who was always scaring her with stories or pranks.
She would get up every morning around 4 am and make biscuts, eggs & fry some bacon. She would take one special biscuit and put a cotton ball in the middle bake it up, fix Grandads plate and wake him up...it got him every time...it was a pretty funny to see....had to give her credit on that one!
