I have a 440 in my Duster and the balancer is too big to allow me to mount the timing tab on the 2 lower bolts of the timing cover. I was wanting to know if I can put a smaller harmonic balancer on it so I can use the timing tabs to time this devil. This engine came out of a 1976 RV and was rebuilt and it stayed on there. I have a pic of how big it is. thanks,Bill

Can you just mark the block where the 0 would be and use tape instead?

That's the late cast crank damper and you should leave it right where it is. Like 70 RR said, just make a custom pointer or something.

Yea cast crank externally balanced. You dont want to change that balancer as its balanced with the crank. I agree with everyone as find TDC and make a pointer unless you have the righ one with another cover. Ron
