In the garage. Under the hood. Again.
"Today's dumb question comes from Al in Michigan. Caller, what's your dumb question of the day?"

OK;I'm going to replace the heater hoses on the Sport Fury, and have this valve-type device in line. Heater control valve of some kind? There is a vacuum hose coming from it and heading into the netherworld of the under-dash area.

Being that this is an original A/C car(though I'm not running it),do I need this thing,or can I just run hoses from the firewall around to the block fittings? As far as the vacuum line, can I just pull it back under the dash and not worry about it?

OK,it's more than one question, and they may not be that dumb-you decide.
And...as always,thanks for any help!

One more thing...does anyone have the rubber plug or whatever goes in/over the firewall hole in the second pic? 'Tis appreciated.

Al. if mot using ac, get that valve outta there, it's there to keep some water in the core so it wont crack when ac is on...something to that effect.

Run your hoses straight to the fitting on on the firewall.

That plug can be found anywhere, I got mine from Kramers for about 9 bucks.

i have a good vintage ac unit to fit your car, if interested.

Zach;thanks for the tip. That might have contributed to the car running hot every so often.

1koolnet;also thanks, but I'm keeping the big block and no a/c. I even want to remove the a/c hardware from under the dash,if possible. If I were inclined to restore it with the original Poly mill(the thought HAD crossed my mind-briefly),I'd be very interested.

Cool;another potential crisis averted! Thanks!

Glad to help.
