I have a heater control valve question for my 71 charger. It is the vacuum operated valve and it started to leak. My local part stores cn cet the cable operated valve. is it hard to convert it to the cable operated switch or can the vacuum switch be rebuilt? Any suggestions?
Thanks!

When you say leaks you mean vacuum leaks? Yes you can replace the control switch if that is the case go to rockauto.com and find yours. cable operated valve? seems like a bit much just to fix a vacuum problem. Not sure I understand what your local parts store is telling you?

Sorry, it is leaking coolant. My parts stores seem to think the valve was replaced. I know for a fact that it is the original to the car. For now I am just going to disconnect it and run my heater hoses directly into the heater core, since I will not need A/C for several months. I will try Rockauto and see if they have one.
Thanks!

So I bypassed the valve and heat all the time. I take it that valve controls the temperature inside the car and not just close off for the A/C. Also I only have air coming out of the A/C vents. I guess there is a bad servo in the heater box keeping it from switching. something else for me to fix...
