Heater cores ?

Hello all. Not here often enough. Great site. My 67 belvedere II i call Patina has 4 heater hoses out of the firewall. They are not hooked up yet they were blocked off when i found the car. I have seen a couple of pics on the innerweb but hoses were routed different in some pics. Does the extra set have something to do with the a/c, whats the proper routing of the hoses and why 4. Any help would be great, thanks.

Looks like a factory A/C 67 small block car. Ill get you some pics next week when I get back up to where my charger is. It has never been tampered with. 67 318 la small block a/c car. But yes it is different because you have A/C brother.

Welcome aboard! Yes you have an A/C setup. The unit on the right with the 90 degree elbow is the water valve. It is controlled via the Temp slide control in the dash. The 90 degree elbow gets the hose coming off of the water pump. The other side of the water valve goes to the right side of the heater core tube and the left tube goes back to the return on the engine. If you hook them up, you will want to check for leaks on the interior side of the firewall as these old water valve tend to leak and drip inside. Also another problem these A/C cars have is there is another valve in the heater core inside the heater box that gets dried out from not being watered up. Once that happens, the vacuum pod is not able to open or close that valve when heat or A/C is called for. If your water valve leaks, there is a guy in Valley Center, CA that rebuilds them. Classic Air has the valve that is in the heater core. Good Luck!
