Hi,

I live in central Texas and I recently got my '67 Plymouth GTX home.

I've been poking around the board here for several weeks researching and gathering information about the car and what needs to be done. I haven't been around Mopars much and there's a lot for me to learn. I have had Chevys for most of my life.

This GTX is special, though.

It was my first car.
Not a car of the same year or model, but, the actual car itself.
I was in my teens when I first bought it wayyyyyy back then.

As time passed, I got married and started a family.
Around '74 -'75, I sold the car to my younger brother and he has had it for all these years.

It's back with me once again and is still in fairly decent shape. It looks a little rough and there is some rust in the usual places but, the floor pans and trunk don't have any rust and are amazingly solid. It needs some TLC and paint but, it's still a strong running and awesome car. I'll be bringing it back to it's former condition and I hope to enjoy it for a very long time.

First question I have is:

Does anyone here possibly know about how many Silver '67 GTX's were produced?

I read a thread where someone said that there aren't that many Silver GTX's around. I've also been told that the fender tag indicates that this car was a special order car. It also has some options that weren't normally included as stock.

I wouldn't want to change the paint color if it's important to keep it as it is. So far, it seems to have been kept mostly original. The only things I know of that aren't original to the car are the heads. I don't know when or why they were swapped out but, according to the castings they aren't even a matching set, each one has a different number.

Thanks

Welcome from Maine! I can't help as far as how many were made of that color etc.
But I am sure someone will chime in. In the meantime, post up some pics! Glad you got your car back! Have fun with it!

Hi
welcome aboard
Thanks for joining the forum.
There may be production numbers for the GTXs
I don't know
I think there were 12,000 +/- built
figure 10 % silver

mine is a 67 with the Bronze maroon color...

welcome to FBBO glad to hear you got it back

Welcome aboard ,I'm not very knowable in gtx's but do like them and would love to see some pics as would probably everyone here also maybe try posting your fender tag info someone here will decode it for you , what motor do you have in it? Reason I'm asking I kinda sounds like you want to change the color and to be honest unless you have a hemi or a 440 +6 4 speed car or something along those lines it probably won't matter the color you pick. Good luck and let's see some pictures

hi and welcome to the site ,when you get a chance post some photos of your GTX :headbang:

Welcome where in central tx are you? im in Killeen right outside ft. Hood.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome.

I've been busy and haven't had much time to get back on the board. We've been working on the car and it's getting closer to being ready for paint. We replaced the fluids and started the motor with no problems a while back. We'll still need to do much more to get it road worthy which isn't a problem it runs very well after sitting for so many years. It's been taken apart, the interior and the engine have been removed. Most of the body work that it needed has been done and its getting primer now. There's more sanding and more coats of primer to be done yet. Paint is a week or so away once our body man/painter gets back in town.

I think we're going to go with blue for the paint color. It's been narrowed down to choosing one of these three:

1967 Plymouth Bright Blue
1971-72 True Blue
1968 Electric Blue

As soon as I figure out how to resize photos and post pictures I'll add some of the car/project in progress.

Hi neighbor! We're pretty close to Killeen. We live in Burnet County.

This is our first stab at rebuilding a car that's been sitting for such a long time but, we don't mind the work. Also, we stumbled upon a paint & body guy that had just moved here from Arizona. He comes to our place after his regular job to work on the car. This arrangement is working out very well since we have a shop at our house. We really like that we don't have to send the car out to a shop to get the body and paint work done. We get to see the progress that's being made almost daily and we learn a little about the process at the same time. We're very pleased with his work and are amazed by how much he's gotten done in a relatively short amount of time. It's coming along much faster than we ever could have managed any other way.

As I mentioned in the other posting, I hope to get some pictures up very soon. Guess I need to go on a photo website to get them ready and resized first.

Thanks, have a good one....
