Looking forward to sharing info with you about my cars! But first, a question! I have the opportunity to purchase a 1962 Plymouth Fury as a project. I am questioning the condition of the VIN plate and would like to see if this model has the vin located in more than one location before I make the investment. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

From what I was reading the VIN on 62 cars is only located on the VIN plate. Any body stamping numbers are SO numbers. Don't take my word for it but hopefully some one here can give you a more educated answer.

Sandy!

I don't know of any "confidential" serial numbers on the '62 models. They didn't really come about until the late '60s.

The main serial number plate is located on the drivers side A piller, between the door hinges.

What is it about the condition of the one that you are looking at that you are questioning? Does the car have a title?

In NY the title is a transferrable registration which the seller has. The car is in good shape. The vin plate does not have screws, but does have screw holes. It appears to be glued on.

1962 will not have screws. The top hole is spot welded, the bottom hole has a rivet. I thought that's why you were questioning it. Good luck!

Welcome. Hope the fury works out. Seems highly unlikely that the vin was switched on a 62.
