Hello all!

been lurking around here for a bit and thought I would finally sign up and make a post. My car is a 71 GTX that my dad bought new in SoCal when he was in the Marine Corp. Car got parked back in 85 due to lack of funds while my parents were raising me and sisters. When I graduated from college back in 2002 my dad gave me the car. so over the past 10 years I've been slowly putting the car together. I feel like I'm a pretty lucky guy that my dad kept the car all the years and gave it to me.

at this point all my body work is done and painted with all most all the trim pieces either re-chromed, repainted, or replaced. my interior is also about done too. So now I am down to the fun stuff, powertrain and chassis.

Car is not being restored to concourse condition, but more of a weekend toy that I won't be afraid to drive in town or at the track.

The car is a 440, 4 speed car with a dana 60. all the good stuff :headbang:

If anyone is interested I will post up some pics.

thanks for the welcome, I'll snap some fresh pics Friday when I get home from wor and post them up.

Welcome to FBBO & have fun with your Dads old 71 GTX...

Sweet, welcome! I'm in Charlotte, MI if you know where that is. Looking forward to seeing the pics of your GTX!

Tgc,you come on here speaking of a cool car and no pics? For shame...LOL

Welcome from Flushing, which is north of Detroit and west of Flint. Last time I checked, anyway. You're gonna love it here;best group of Mopar misfits on the web. Some of us are even banned from other sites for misbehavior. Now,that makes us special.

Hey fellow Michigander, welcome to the site! Definitely need pics of the GTX. You in the Detroit area? Swap meet and car show in Centerline on the 29th of this month.

wow, thanks for all the welcomes around here! I use to some other forums where I post up a hello and I get maybe 1 reply.

Glad to see there is a lot of fellow Michiganders around here also.

So here is a crummy pic of my car, this is the only one I have on my work computer, I'll get some more tonight when I get home. this is from when I was working on the interior. she not terribly photogenic at this point, that changes a little bit every year though!

So some things aren't original to the car, like the color, hood scoop and stripe. the color and stripe are stuff my dad and I have picked out together because we both like it, also the hood scoop is something my dad put on the car back when it was new, a few people have told me I am dumb for leaving it on, but I like it and that's the way my dad did it back during the 70's. so to me the hood scoop is original at this point. its a car for my dad and I to enjoy together and not for some judge to pick apart at a concorse car show.

more pics to come tonight.

Welcome!!!!!!!!!! I'm in Plymouth--could possibly meet up at a cruise.
Best of life,
Bob

I think I'm still a few years out before I go on my first cruise!! I give my self a budget to spend on the car every year, some years the budget has been quite low and other years its a little higher. This year I have enough pennies saved to build the motor and trans. this is the year I've been waiting for though and once the motor is done I will see light at the end of the tunnel!

I'm in the Monroe area for everyone that has ask.

Being 1 of 327 made I'd be putting that car back to its original glory but hey, its America, do with it as you like.

here is my ride sitting up on the jack stands looking like she ready for me to build her an engine this year.

Nice car man. I just joined this forum and had to check out some other newbies. I'm also from Michigan, the UP actually. Got my 73 Satellite as a wedding present from the father-in-law. It needs some TLC but hopefully we can see our rides blossom together. Maybe meet at the St. Ignace car show in a few years.
