Me too. You use Clarkes? I am using Barrs. He used to work at Clarkes and started his own place. I have 67 RT. Taking it in after Thanksgiving to have a few things done. What do you have? When did you graduate?

Sure! Im from NC and I own a 74 Road Runner. Its actually a Long... Long term project that I've had for a few years now and finally starting to look more into it now that i have a little free time to mess with it.

Forewarning- *sorry for venting *

My father (whom I haven't had any sort of relationship with in my 34 years on earth and who lives 4 hours away) offered it to me the first time I visited his side of the family him after my moms death(she wanted me to reach out and forgive because she knew our family was shrinking and it did drastically after she died, her side doesnt attempt to contact at all now, pretty much the same as my dads side. My sister is basically all of the "blood family" i have now) . But were not here to be all depressed I have accepted it and moved on with my life and have learned family isnt just a bloodline and I appreciate my real family now.

Now, for the story of how the Road Runner can to be, this is basically how the conversation between my father and me went -

Father- you like old cars?

Me- yea I like all types of cars

Father- come with me a minute (he drove us a mile or two away from where we stayed at my aunts house to where the old Plymouth sat)

Father- its been sitting for about ten years, I haven't had time to mess with it, if you want it we'll haul it to your house, if not it's going to the junk yard

Me- hell yea I'll take it(all the while thinking, "was that his attempt a "love"? , LOL, hell yea, MOPAR OR NO CAR, I'm not letting this thing go to a yard")

Now I know its not the best of acquisition stories but its mine .

Heres what I know, Its been painted a medium non OE blue with primer spots and such but the interior of the trunk is white so I believe that is the original color. Overall the body has minimal rust. It started off as a 318 auto. My dad attempted to put a 440 in it and couldn't get it running right so he took it out and left it parked but still has a BB 727 auto in it.

I have a list a mile long. I like the ProTouring look and have been looking into airbag suspension. Larger wheels (18, 19, 20) but nothing gawdy, love the look of the billet rallye. I plan to go with a big block, not sure what base yet but aiming for drivability and anything north of 400hp would make me happy. Im more of a magnaflow guy rather than flowmaster. I want the acceleration to be kinda quick but also want highway driving to be decent too, so i need a happy medium for the rearend but I haven't gotten to know what's what in that area. I love VitaminC orange and flat black combo but think im going away from the stock stripe for contrast. Maybe custom seats and mild interior, decent audio and so on and so on and so on...

It'll be a looooong time before its done but I have faith that one day it'll get there.

I put the car in Clark's shop when Steve Barr was there, Steve left during the build. I have been to Steve's shop multiple times and know him well. Do you know Jimmy Meeks??

Cool deal! I don't know Jimmy. I have never been to Clarks. This is my first Mopar. Bought it for me and my dad, who's retired, to enjoy. I have only had it about a month. Me and my dad restored a 66 Satellite, that he had to sell several years ago due to health/financial reasons, so this is the replacement. I meet Steve sitting in a restaurant in Charlotte. I took my 5 year old to his first car show at the speedway this year and while eating looked out the window and saw the back of a guys shirt that said "Barr's Restoration - Winterville, NC". I looked at my wife and said how small a world it is and went outside to meet him. It was Steve. Great guy so far. He hooked me up with the guy that delivered my car and gave me a tour a few weeks ago. Looking forward to him working on it.

74Roadrunnernoob, I am sorry about your dad, but am glad that you sound like you have persevered! There are some great people on here that can help you along your journey. I am 35, so understand where you are coming from and there are some really experienced vets on here that can help out. I am learning on the mechanical side, but can help with the audio. I worked at a car audio place for years when I was in college. I like your plans for the car and look forward to watching your progress.
