Not really that new of a member, I have done many searches on this site for information. A little background, I have a 69' Roadrunner, originally a 383 4-speed, but both are long gone. I am doing a resto-mod, and it is now time to pose a question, I hope you can help. I sold my original K-frame and all front suspension parts and it is being replaced with a coil-over setup from control freaks. The kit wants me to use the original grade 5 bolts to mount the new K-frame. My question... I have been unable to locate anything but grade 5 replacements from a company that I am unfamiliar with,

http://store.uscartool.com/mopar-k-frame-bolts.html

has anyone had failure of the stock bolts with high hp setups? I plan to twin turbo a 400 stroker.

Howdy, I think those would be just fine. I have the stock ones on my race car. It has a 540 cid in it and runs mid 9s in the 1/4

If you have a menards around there in Mishicot, they have grade 5 bolts. I'm sure Green Bay has at least a couple stores down the road. Why not use a Grade 8 bolt if you can't find you're grade 5? They have a higher tension and shear rate anyways (stronger bolt). Anyways, good luck and welcome aboard.

Welcome to the forum.

Are grade 5 manditory, or just the minimum? Grade 8 might be easier to find.

Gentelmen,

Thanks for the replys, I am actually looking for Grade 8 bolts and have been unable to locate them. If you took a look at the link, the bolts have a shoulder on them so that the suspension can bolt up, I can't just buy an off the shelf bolt. My question was if you think the Grade 5 would hold if I can't find a stronger replacement.

Thank you kdtjb, that was the kind of reply I was looking for.

welcome to FBBO from Sunny Hot NorCal, have fun & good luck with the 69 RR

Eric383,

Sure did, even sent them the link. They were unable to help. Based on KDTJB's comment, I will just use the stock replacements, unless someone knows of a vendor(ex - yearone) where I can get grade 8 bolts. Please don't suggest Menards as these are not standard bolts. I have checked with Fastenal, local Carquest & NAPA, Yearone and PST. I found them on USCARTOOL,
http://store.uscartool.com/mopar-k-frame-bolts.html , but I know nothing about this vendor, anyone?

I know you guys like pictures, this is just a mock up to see how things fit, but here you go. If I post more pictures, where should I do it? Thanks for the warm welcome.
