Well I have a 67 440 with 915 heads shaft mounted rockers I'm told stock ones are not adjustable.. I want to put a thumper cam in. What do I do. The rockers need to be adjustable, jegs has two differant shaft mounted adjustable rocker set ups. One is 1100 and one is 250. Should I get away from shaft mount or what? I already bought the cam like a dummy. I'm also torn because I already have a perf rpm and a 2200 highs stall to go with the cam. I am learning as I go LOL

The motor had low miles so I just wanted to have fun this summer then do a complete rebuild this winter. I plan on getting good rods and pistons this winter and having it gone thru at a machine shop. I'm just trying to build a burn out car 355 sure grip 727 trans. Now I'm lost. Do I put money in these heads or what?
Tony, you're going to need rockers, pushrods, lifters, and probably springs. I'd call the cam company and see what they recommend. I've got Comp cam magnum rockers on mine and never had a problem with'em. You'd probably be better off building the engine all at once instead of valve train now then pistons and rods later. That way you are one and done with the motor. A far as 915 head those are nice closed chambered heads and can be made to flow real well. I had a set of these exact heads but the money to get them where I wanted them was more than to buy a set of aluminum heads so I went that direction.
Is it possible to return/exchange the cam for a milder grind? There's plenty of hydraulic cams that'll work with your stock valvetrain and still get you to burnouts-ville.
Welcome to FBBO Tony. What kind of car is the 440 going in. I take for granted from screen name it's a 1977. I have a '77 Cordoba with a 440 and a 727 trans. Just put a set of 4.30 gears in it and it's in the shop gettin a 3000 stall converter and a Petronix distributor. I got a 13.70 out of it last year shootin for a high 12 this year. Good luck on your build. Bruce
