New member here, diving in with both feet. I still have my first car,1971 red 383 mag slap-stick auto Road Runner.
My dad bought it for me the summer of 1978 and I didn't turn 16 until that fall and get my license.
Been a lot of places in it until 1984 when work, marriage and kids stalled the dream. It's been in storage in 4 places over the last
30 years. The kids are grown, grand kids are here and I am going to try to get it fixed back up and relive some of the memories,
some of which will be bittersweet. :icon_sad:

Welcome to FBBO. I like to call it Mopar University. You can learn a lot on this site - I sure have. Love to see your ride when you get a chance to post. Our stories are very similar. Had my GTX, also my first car for 43 years now. Same deal. Lots of fun for years then life got in the way. Kept it stored for the last 35 or so years. Just now finishing up with the restoration.

Welcome from across the state line Doc. There are plenty of good people here to help.

Hi!
Welcome aboard and thanks for joining the forum!
Nice car!
Send us some pics when you can.

Thanks all for the warm welcome. I have a picture from '78 that I'll have to scan and post.
I need to take some more now too and put with it, though it doesn't look nearly as good as
it did back then.

Welcome to the site, any pictures are better then no pictures good luck with the resto .

welcome aboard...I sold my 71 Satty last October. one of my favorite body styles!

Trying some pics.

Ok, here we go. See if I can get this right....These are some pics I took tonight and it is a little hard to get enough of the car in the pic as it is in a
shelter/temp garage I put up this holiday weekend(before I found this wonderful place) DSC01079.jpgDSC01080.jpgDSC01081.jpgDSC01082.jpgDSC01083.jpgDSC01084.jpgDSC01085.jpgDSC01086.jpgDSC01087.jpgDSC01078.jpg

Also after decoding the fender tag I found that it was to come with "Standard duty front disc brakes" (B11) but I assure you it did not. I swapped the front spindles
and drum brakes for a set of spindles and discs from a '76 charger when I was 17.
And I love the FE5 Bright Red/Rally Red and will keep that color.
I just started reading the post from 71airgrabberRR on his 71 RR he redid and am sure I will be reading every post up to present time.

My goal has been to pick up a 70 and earlier car....got one but I DO like the 71 RR and X cars. Good luck on reviving her!

Love that car! Designer : John Herlitz. Sweet. Big Block. Good color. If you have the wallet, take it to a good Mopar Shop and have it done. Add AC, GV, then drive the wheels off.

Thanks for the comments and I do love the FE5 color.
And for 71airgrabberRR and his project,I read the whole 51 page thread and was sad to find that he got rid of his RR project around page 49.
I understand the need to have less projects to do,but was looking forward to seeing this done as a guide for my project.
Here is a pic of my car in it's hey day, this is July of '78.71 RR July 19780001.jpg
