Just joined the forum in advance of starting the restoration of my recently acquired 1967 Coronet 440 two door hardtop. The car is unmolested with everything original...including the slant 6 (which has to go!). My intent is to convert the car to a 440 bb (383 or 426 Hemi will also be considered depending on what I can find). I won't be starting on the Coronet until this fall, finishing up current restoration on my wife's 72 Spitfire, but I'm excited and ready to start collecting what is required for the drivetrain swap and other upgrades.

I have the opportunity to buy a good running 440 out of a 77 Motorhome (71 000 Klm) but from what I have read there are those who would not go that route....low compression?

I look forward to any advice and help that members here can provide.

Thanks, Rocky

Welcome fellow Canuck! Look forward to your restoration! Lot's of great info here from some very talented and knowledgeable mopar folks.

On the 440, it might be a good starting point for you depending on what you want to do. The block is basically the same, arguably stronger casting, as the late 60s blocks. The crank will be cast and the pistons sit deeper in the cylinders than earlier 440s, which account for the lower compression. I think there's lots you can do with it if it checks out ok and depending on your budget. Good luck!

Thanks for the welcome. Here are pictures of my 1967 Coronet....that took two years to acquire (there is an interesting story here!).
