Any tricks on how to get the water tube assembly free from the heater core? Thanks.

They just press in. I rebuilt my Heater/AC box on my 70 Coronet thus year. Can be a chore.
Those tubes have an O-Ring on them and just press in. I got lucky and was able to get mine out with small pair of channel locks.

O-ring, you say? channel locks huh?

I was thinking of heating the outer tubes to expand them...

This link has a rebuilt kit that includes the O-Rings

You propane torch idea may be good. I think I soaked mine with a mild penetrant and very carefully got the tubes to break loose with channel locks.

I took several hundred pictures of the process. Mainly the labyrinth of vaccum lines. Several of us on this site have gone through this process and have pictures if needed. Good luck
