I just received the drip rail moldings I ordered from a member. The box looked a little beat up so I took pictures. The moldings inside look like they were stepped on or something. I notified the seller and sent him pictures. He said that they came off that way. I have my old ones and they didn't come off bowed. I hope someone can chime in and let me know if you think they are still usable. The ones I need are bent the most and I'm afraid to kink them if I try to straighten them out.

I didn't mention that the left 2 bundles are mine and the loose ones are the ones I recieved.

We restore a lot of stainless trim here in the shop, drip rails can be a challenge. Bowed like your's are is pretty common since most are taken off by just pulling instead of slowly unclipping. If they are not already kinked you should be able to slowly work the bow out. We have a simple die we clamp in a vise to do it. All it is is a chunk of 3/8 flat steel about 3" wide ground to fit the inside curve and smoothed (no sharp edges). The idea is to press slowly down with your hands the trim over the die working back and forth till it's straight again. the idea is you want to press on the center of the trim and not on the edges, press on the edges will almost always kink it. Hope this makes sense, I attached a simple sketch of it it works.

I removed those off the car. They have zero bends or kinks in them they are just bowed out. They need bowed back as stated above.

I would like the PayPal dispute to be closed as stated above the moldings are not damaged.

I remove a lot of drip rail molding. As said above it's not really an issue in my opinion.

The bows are common as no clips are holding them. When you push them on they will be held straight.

Having old trim straight is near impossible and why would you want it straight anyway?

No problem here

He is being very unreasonable and states his chrome is perfectly strait. Well I reckon it is as he used a HAMMER to remove his.
He is requesting his money back on PayPal as he states they are "damaged" and not perfect. Good luck for him finding them with no bows.

Wso8 you can take my paypal offer or you can take them back and repair them yourself and resell them. I already have a set that needs restoring. You stated that they were perfect and that's not what I received. My dented pieces are straight. That's what I expected to receive minus the dents for my newly painted vehicle.

As stated above multiple times they are not damaged or needing restoration. They are fine.
I have went ahead and escalated the claim for you as you are a very unreasonable buyer.

Yikes! I'm glad I'm not involved in this one. Was once and the seller responded in a positive manner. Similar issue - settle and be friends.

Depending on which way they are bowed, you want them bowed to fit snug.

This transaction has gotten out of hand and I apologize to the members here. But when the first paragraph of his response to paypal was that I switched parts and was trying to cheat him then that made it personal. I've always tried to be fair when I bought or sold parts here.

Unfortunately being the seller you will find you don't stand a chance with Pay-pal. No matter how right you may be they always side with the buyer. That is why I refuse to use them anymore. They will just pull money out of your account at will. Good luck to you both on coming to an agreement. But rather than making this fight public he should have kept it private. Just my opinion which counts for nothing lol.

Delicate trim pieces should be shipped in PVC pipe with plenty of packing material, not a box.

Although we can debate on what to ship in and what not to the box had plenty of packaging materials and the chrome was not damaged in shipping and as stated above it was not damaged taking off the car.

As far as accusing you of swapping the chrome the reason for that was on the picture you sent if you zoom in the chrome looks like it has small dings on it witch my chrome did not have..

Wso8 after having a conversation with metalman I went out and tried to install the worst of the pieces. After some fighting and prying and minor chipping of my new paint I was able to get them on. I value the input and advice of the members here, thanks for your time. I dropped the dispute on paypal.

I am glad you got it figured out. I hate to say it but almost every car I have installed drip rail molding on needed a little touch up somewhere afterwards. Thank goodness for two-stage urethane paint.

I've been using PayPal for around 15 years now and have never had any negative issues with them or with anyone filing a dispute. Don't know all of the particulars in this case but I'm glad it's settled.....
