Need to decipher production date codes on the back of some 70 E body kick panels.

No offense but... are judges checking the date code on those now?! :D

The part # is early looking...or you're talking about the Julien calender ?

How does it work?
There are tables out there in the ether with all the information on them.

Channelling that magic smoke into your computer is the bit that time, skill and a good measure of cunning. :D

I get the 2718 bit but what is the 10 in front of it?

No idea, but I'm guessing that it's to identify it's the "10,000" day calendar so you don't think 2718 is the 271st day of 1968. Why they couldn't just date **** with 050169 is beyond me, guess they were avoiding the day/month/year vs month/day/year debate.. lol

And the 74086 number in the middle is the vendor code for the place doing the plastic moulding..

10,000 day calendar actually begins for the 1962 model year on 29 July 1961 as an "S" model year beginning 0001
1963 "T" model year begins 1 Aug 1962 as 0369
1964 "V" model year beginning 1 Aug 1963 as 0734 (leap year)
1965 "A" model year beginning 1 Aug 1964 as 1100
1966 "B" model year beginning 1 Aug 1965 as 1465
1967 "C" model year beginning 1 Aug 1966 as 1830
1968 "D" model year
1969 "E" model year
etc etc etc
and each year beginning 1 Aug adding 365 days (366 in leap year)
each day is consecutive and is displayed with 4 digits

Hope this helps
