Hmm... Interesting bumper news

The picture that they have on their web sight for a 71 has jack slots. I hope they don't think one bumper fits both.

Well there's 2 part numbers so I don't think they made that mistake.

1971 = Part# 100-1471
1972 = Part# 100-1472

I have a 73 Cuda and hated the bumper/bumperettes and brackets on that car so I bought some AMD bumpers and brackets for a 70-71 Cuda and was very happy with the fit and finish.

More recently, the front bumper on my 72 Plymouth B Body was looking tired. Chrome was pitted but the bumper was an awesome core. I was considering getting it rechromed but the lowest priced place I could find was still around $600. I took a chance and bought an original bumper that was already rechromed off ebay for $400. That was a mistake. What I got was a very nicely chromed twisted hunk of crap. Totally un-useable. Was described as "show quality", haha, give me a break. My grill wouldn't even fit inside it on one side.

Anyway, I digress... I checked AMD last month and these bumpers were not available. If they were, I would have given them a shot. $410 shipped to your door is a good price IF they fit right. Compared to $500 and up to have an original rechromed (and that's without shipping), these are a downright bargain. I was mainly wondering if anyone had seen one in person yet.

I could probably go check it out... I live closer than most...but their counter hours, and the actual distance from where I work....yeah...it's a drive.

listed as "in stock" today.

SWWWWEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a set for a 70 Challenger and they look to be spot on and are very nice.

I'm definitely interested !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Does anyone know if they are making the rear bumpers too ????

Now if they'd make an unchromed 71 version punched for the rubber bumper eyebrow mounting holes they'd really be on to something...

That's getting pretty specific, lol. Wouldn't it be better if they just made the eyebrow? Then you could just media blast a regular bumper and drill it out yourself.

Ummm...media blast to remove chrome?!? They're already stamping the bumper, it wouldn't be that difficult to run a few sets stamped with the slotted holes and not chrome them...at least I don't think it would be.
There's already a source out there for the eyebrow...until Gene Gregory retires.

Ummm... Yeah!!! Media blast. To prep for paint!

Yeah, it'd be nice if they'd do that but I doubt it'll ever happen. Unless they start making and selling the eyebrow with it. Otherwise, what's the point? Selling you a $300 bumper so you can go to Gene Gregory and pay him $1500-$2000 for his custom made part? That's not good business.

It would be nice to see an affordable way to get that eye-brow set-up but, for now, I'll just be happy to see another quality part being made for these cars that DOESN'T break the bank.

After having a bad experience buying a rechromed front bumper, I took a chance and I bought a new one from AMD. I would have to say that I am very satisfied with it. The fit is great. Everything lined up easily. The chrome is nice... Not "triple dipped" show car but I would say it's about as good as the originals were when new. Again, I am happy with the quality and I'm a bit picky. I would recommend this part.

The only issue I had is:

My car is a 72. I ordered the 71 bumper using the 71 part number. What I got was a box that said 71, but the bumper was a 72. The only difference being the bumper jack slots are 72 only. It wasn't a big deal for me though, since I have a 72. I did call AMD and talked to one of their guys who was very appreciative that I called them and let them know this issue because the item is a brand new item. He said he would make a report and pass it on to AMD's R&D team. It could be something as simple as the wrong item in the wrong box... I don't know for sure.

So if you are wanting to order one and you have a 71, you should give them a call and make sure that you are getting one WITHOUT those bumper slots. I am sure they will get the issue worked out quickly but it's best to be on the safe side.

Here's a couple of pics.
