I've removed a parking brake cable that was sticking (not seized). What is the best way to lubricate it? It is from a 75 Doba, does not have a grease fitting and there are no new parts available. If I can't salvage it, my alternative is to have one made.

Hang it straight up and down and spray inside of cable with WD40

Fluid film is better as it is a migrating lube
and hanging it and working up and down well lubing works

I have heard of putting it in a bucket with a little karosine or diesel and letting it soak for a few days then working it loose and lubing it.

i used a small funnel and taped it to one end and used pb blaster working the cable around with a soda bottle on the other end to reuse the blaster.... used a staple for electrical to hang it from .... then afrer it dripped a day or so worked some chain lube in it over head door lube in a can works the best

I have a 20 gallon tote with 1 gallon of molasses mixed with 8 gallons of water. I use it to remove rust. Mine was stuck pretty good so I coiled it up and put it in the bath for a few days. I was then able to get the cable to move back and forth. I pulled it out of the bath every few days to operate the cable and it finally cleaned up real nice. I then painted it with Eastwood's gas tank zinc paint. Lubed it with lithium spray and it has been working great for years.
