It was really cold back in the 50's at the 39th parallel. Semper Fi.

How cold were the Jerry cans up against his leg? Must've felt warm? Or he couldn't feel anything (?),brutal.

He's hoping the engine heat might help thaw his legs out.... They say if you stopped moving you'd freeze to death... Relatively minor wounds would kill ya it you didn't keep moving....

We lost over 6000 men.... China lost over 50,000... And North Korea is still living in the 1950's...

Yup, medics kept IV bottles in their armpits so they wouldn't freeze before use. A different time.

I've been in Wisconsin in -50°. I was in Korea in '88. It wasn't colder temperature wise, but it "felt" colder than anyplace I've ever been.

You weren't north of the 38th Parallel... It's only about 120 miles further north but the altitude & terrain add greatly to the conditions...
