how did the 1971 Charger 500 differ from the base and or the R/T?

My '71 Charger is a 500. All the power accesories including AC. Hiddem headlights. (I put those on. I don't think it was available.) 383 4 barrel. Slap stick shifter in the console. It had a vinyl top which I removed. One weird thing is it doesn't have R/T tail light which I despately long for. Repainted Hemi Orange, original color. Black buckets.

My questio is, what did the 500 do over a base car? And then what options were added. I'm sorry I dont have a fender tag. The left front fender had been replaced.

I think they made a gillon of these.

I think rallye dash and the R/T tail lights pretty much cover it. Super Bee has the cheap tail lights. R/T and 500 had the nice tail lights. All 3 had the rallye dash. Of course the 500 had the plain hood. I think the 500 and R/T had the same door panel tops as well.

500 had the same interior and tail lights as R/T's. Like 70 Coronet R/T and 500 shared trim and interior. Largest engine option was the N code 383.

I have the '70 Coronet 500 also. It doesn't have a rallye dash. Just a horizontal speedometer. It does have the R/T tail lights. Pretty easy to turn it into an R/T clone. It has the buddy front seats with the automatic on the column.

Rallye gauges were optional on both the 1970 coronet 500 and R/T I believe.

Check factory literature on the Hamtramck Historical website. It’s all laid out.

The interesting one was the 71 Charger S/E cause you could get a U-code 440 auto or 4-speed in it.

My '71 was an original 500 model 383 4bbl. The 383 4-bbl was the largest engine option in the 500 trim, and they actually were fairly low production, I think less than 2,000? I could look it up if you want -- looked it up: WP23N1... 1,615 TOTAL, 1,376 Auto, 187 4-speed, 52 3-speed.
No hide away headlights, flat hood, but had the Rally dash, and R/T tail lights, bucket seats, center console shifter.
My car had the 1/2 vinyl top, and the front edge fender chrome piece were short, and stopped at the top edge of the fender. I was missing one side and haven't found a replacement, but not looking too hard either. Has the wheel opening stainless trim. Not sure if that was part of the 500 package or optional?
