How do you get the vacuum port on a Performer RPM intake?

This is on a 73 Roadrunner with a 440. The vacuum port does not want to screw in without hitting the intake. I weary at bending in the connectors as the may break or collapse.
Any suggestions?

I would do away with that vacuum fitting then go the the parts store and get the necessary fittings to fabricate something that will work.

Ah maybe a nipple and a 45 degree fitting??

Or just grind a tiny bit on the manifold runner.
It is only about 1/2" thick. You only need a few thousanth's to clear the nipple.

A friend had this problem. He put the fitting in a vise, inserted a piece of wire in the inside of the connector and put a little heat on it and bent it up, so he could get the clearance for the hose. The wire stops it from collapsing.

Good idea. You can also just get a 1 inch extension fitting to raise that vacuum port fitting.

Wow, great solutions, I think the 45 will work very well, otherwise I will see what I can build from parts. Off to the hardware/auto parts store tomorrow to see what I can find!
Thanks everyone for your help.

Wouldn't you think the designer of these manifolds would know folks would want to use their original fitting and make them work with them. Im sure in casting thousands of these by now they are aware of this.........aaaaahhhhhh.

This would be my choice, can be done with mild heat very carefully.

Agreed Edelbrock should have put that boss in horizontal. Any 45 or 90 that will screw in. The 45 my hit the rear bowl on a Holley.

Thanks, that is good to know. I'm going to be using an Edelbrock AVS2 carb but I will have to watch that there is clearance.
