I plan to paint the entire car (F8 green), engine bay, underside of hood and deck lid, inside trunk, door jambs. How much paint and reducer should I buy? Tks

I sprayed mine with one full gallon reduced gives you two gallons. i did not srpay the underside but i have enough left that i should be able too. max if you had lots of waste and overspray would be 5 quarts. That would do everything inside and out no prob.

Sorry re read your post you could probably get buy with 3 quarts but i would go with 4 to be safe also give you some for touch up. buy a gallon of reducer and you will be set. we went through about 2 gallons of clear. Have them mix up the gallon in one can and mix it then seperate it into two cans that way you know you have the same color in both and it makes it easier to mix and to save.

The amount you need will depend on if it is a vinyl top car and if it is what you are going to put under the top. It will also depend on what paint system you are going to use, single stage or base coat clear coat for example. Reducer will also depend on what brand and system you are going to be using some have different mixing ratios

X2 Moparts. The cheaper the product, the more color you will need to achieve coverage. If you are using a top line color(like DuPonts Chroma Premier)I would count on using a little less than 2 gal. of mixed product(color and reducer). I would rather have some left than do an emergency run to my paint store. Are you doing base/clear or single stage?

Over the years I've only used Sherwin Williams acrylic enamel, so I'm no expert.
But I can tell you that they even have two types of that.
The last time I bought Y3, they had changed the formulation and it was thinner that in past years.
So when I bought more of that, I ask if he had a different formulation.
He did and I bought that. Still thinner than what they used to sell.
The only good advice I can give you is buy twice what you need.
You don't want to run out in the middle of the job. I'd recommend getting two gallons of just the pain for a complete B body.
Might be way overkill.
But better too much than too little and you will have some for touch ups in a few years if you drive the car or some rust reappears. (Yes it happens)
I'm doing that right not on a car.
I don't like base clear coat paints for that reason.

The car does not have a vinyl top. Am going to use single stage paint to make the car look more "original". It sounds like I should get 2 gallons of paint and the corresponding amount of reducer. Thanks for replies so far.

Interesting. I'm getting PPG color (to my understanding a high end product), mixed in the correct Plymouth '68 shade. So I would guess I'd land somewhere in the 2 gallon ballpark too, then?

2 gallons of mixed product would be my estimate, assuming you are using a good hvlp gun with good coverage.
