I’m looking at a 70 block that’s supposed to be a HP block. The stamping looks funny, didn’t look straight for some reason, can someone get me a picture of a correct one? I won’t be going back up to the guys house for two weeks but I’d like to have a pic to compare.
TIA

An HP block is worth NOTHING more than any other block. It's a scam to get more for it Anybody that would counterfeit an hp stamp thinks it will make it more valuable. He's wrong. Only those who don't know any better will pay more money for a worthless stamping.
(Excluding a numbers matching block for a car the customer might own.)

This is your opinion. HP stamp is worth no more to you. How can you say that for others?

You're right, that's my opinion.
Anybody that wants to pay more for a stamping is welcome to do it.
An hp stamp means nothing to the strength of the block, they were all the same.
And having a 70 block in a 70 car does not make it number matching, any more than a 66 or 76 would.

HP meant that that engine was obviously in a higher horse power car. So it had all the extra goodies. Hence, most likely driven a little more robustly. Someone might want to have a HP block to go with their R/T, GTX, L Charger, Sport Fury, Sport Fury GT, Monaco 500 applicable Chrysler.

A HP long block would have a windage tray and cam and lifters that you may be able to reuse but nothing else of value. Big exhaust valves and springs are most likely shot. As for the HP block only, no difference in value. If a non-matching numbers block only . Needs an HP stamping on it to satisfy you then just stamp it. Harbor Freight sells stamping kits.
