Tonight I got home and was in the front yard talking to a friend when we heard a noise across the street. A Canadian goose had landed in the park. I told my buddy "watch this" and headed across the street. I walked up to the goose slowly and bent down. I talked to it for a minute and then petted it on the back. I stood up and told it to follow me. It followed me up and down the street for a minute and then I walked it up my driveway into my house and gave it a tour of the place room by room. By this time five of my friends had seen it and all were amazed. I walked it outside and about 4 blocks to the local bar. I walked in and ordered a shot of gray goose vodka I figured that everyone would get a kick out of it. The bouncer immediately kicked us out. As we walked past the parking lot next door the bartender was moving her car in reverse and waited for the what she thought was a dog but when she saw the goose she stopped and told us to go back inside. She wanted pictures. Everybody had their phones out shooting video. People were petting it and taking selfies like crazy. They wanted to know where I got it and were dumbfounded when I recalled the nights events. Afterwards I walked it around for about thirty minutes and then walked it over to my neighbors house so she could check it out and then headed home. When I got to my driveway it flew away. I have an odd thing with animals. I don't know why but it's kind of cool. I shot a few videos of the goose following me through my house on my phone but won't be able to post them until my son returns home Friday. They are mp4 and need to be converted. It was uniquely entertaining for about

two hours.

Maybe we should change your user ID...

A Canada goose will either be friendly, or mean. I had hundreds of them at the park I worked at. When feeding them, some would just slowly take the food...others would bite you everytime, as they went to take it. The later were more afraid.

I've tried giving a goose at a bar before.

Sometimes they follow you home, sometimes...not so much.

If you are good to them, they can be fine.
This one was happy to have me park by her every day, to give her som

e peace from the seagulls pestering her on the nest.

Cool deal, cool tale...

When I lived in Turtle Creek, I had some Mallards
I had raised that were abandoned, that were free to come & go
I helped them, I was afraid they'd have been pray to the cats
or any predators behind my place in the green belt area,
that came back every year {for a couple years -5?-} to my pool
& yard to raise some of the ducklings...

My labs didn't approve...LOL
Neighborhood kids dug it thou...

I looked forward to it too...

There's some deer I've been able to hand feed when they are young
{the mothers didn't like it} going thru the easement by my place, daily,
a buck that has really grown up, he won't eat out my hand any more
but stands there & looks at me when I talk to him...
Seems like he remembers me...

Dogs & little kids like me too...LOL Go figure

My neighbor is a game Warden he basically told me to stop,
but knows I do it...

My sisters use to call me a whisperer,
I always had a way with our animals,
pigs ducks geese chickens goats deer horses cattle dogs cats,
I had a pet Pig named after the Sheriff Pacillio,
a Charolais bull named Kevin in HS...

I may be a sucker - but is that actually a true story!? Love to see the video.....

I cannot tell you how many times I have heard stories that start with "So I took this Goose to a bar....." This one sounds like the real deal! Looking forward to the video! What did you say to the Goose before you petted his back?

You tell it whatever you would say to a human.
"I'd like to show you my house, and some other human stuff. I'll make sure you won't have any problems".
They aren't stupid by any means.
They understand a lot.
The Gander nearby the Goose on the nest knew I was OK, and he was on guard against other geese already in that parking lot.

If this ever happens with a vulture, watch out.
