That is the id stamp on the trans ! Nothing else !

Ok so the stamping was dun by someone smoking herbs ?The numbers are clearly wisible but do not ad up whit the date !So produktion eror ?

From the pic it look it looks 2892090L which is a 727 from a '69 B or C-body with a 383-2. Same build date.

You should probably try and soak that paint off rather than file it off to read the numbers....lest the numbers vanish.

The thing is that Im on the hunt for a 71 or newer trans so the date is the major issue .

Those are easy to find in the states, probably not so easy to find in Sweden. Do you know why you want a 71 to 75 core? If you are looking for specific internal parts you can just buy the later parts and swap them in. The case is the same. Since you are in Sweden you might need to grab any case you can find and then upgrade the internals as needed.

There are various date codes on the transmission castings if you look closely. Usually little sundial type of markings with a year in the middle. Might be hard to see unless the case is clean.
