Identifying year of /6

I am looking at an older D100 truck with a /6. The PO said it was swapped from another vehicle. Therefore, I need to identify the year of this engine. If it was a Big Block, no problem--but I'm new to the /6.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You need to know the numbers stamped on the block, passenger side, just above #1 spark plug. Look for a small 'ledge' where the head connects to the block.

If the block has never been milled it should have the numbers there....or if it's a 1960 model, iirc, the numbers will be somewhere behind the water pump. Is there something year specific or just curiosity about what the actual year is?
