It is interesting how the military decides to change the weapons. My guess is that a B-52 could still do the job it was intended for. But we spend trillions to get something else. Stealth, a good plan. Kelly Johnson designed the P-38 and many others. The Skunk Works did amazing things over the years for this country. We never know what is in the works.

I miss the tomcat, such an awesome bird! My shop is right behind NAS Oceana air base and the jets fly over all day ... this last week F22 raptors were flying around, man they are quiet! Would be so nice if they replaced the hornets!

I have been working at a school right at the end of the NAS Atlanta runway. I see F-22's quite often coming out of there. Also C-130's and lots of Black Hawks. The F-22's are loud as hell at ground level. But even at take off speeds they are out running the sound. I have tried several times to take pictures. By the time I get out there the plane is gone...

NAS JAX was right across the St. John's river from my house in Jacksonville and every Saturday morning they would light up some of the jets for maintenance. Would rattle my windows from more than a mile away.
